We're
Darren and Jane.
In the summer of 2006 (after ten years together),
Darren in a moment of planned madness got down on one knee
and proposed...

luckily,
she said YES!
So
on the 27th september 2008 WE'RE GETTING MARRIED!!
And
we'd really like your help to make our honeymoon a genuine
'once in a lifetime' event.
After eleven years
together, we've slowly built up everything we need in terms
of household items.
So
if anything, what we'd really love instead of another toaster
or kettle, is
some
help to
send
us on
the honeymoon of a lifetime!
(After
all, when a toaster stops working there's no use for it and
it gets thrown away... where as the memories, photos and
videos we'll
get from this Honeymoon will last us a lifetime! It's quite
simply the best gift we could possibly receive.)
We've
been dreaming about a road trip across America since we very
first got together eleven years ago... and now with your help
we'll finally get to do it!
So,
please, if you'd like to gift us anything.... then part
of Our
American Honeymoon would be the most appreciated.

The
day after our wedding we'll be flying straight
to New York, taking a few days to enjoy the city, then
spending the next three incredible weeks
driving across the entire US in a motorhome. We can't wait
to see and experience as many different places as possible. You
might look at our planned route (all
7,000 miles of it!!)
and think we're mad (and we probably are a bit), but when
we're travelling anywhere we love the journey as
much as actually being in the places we're travelling
to.
So
in a way, the longer the distance the more we'll enjoy
it. We've
included places that we've always dreamed of seeing, and also
places where friends live, that we've only seen/spoken to
so far through the
miracle of the internet. It will be great to meet them finally.
Here's
a list of our wonderful, intended, destinations:
New
York -
for all the touristy stuff, film locations and just to
experience it.
Washington -
Who wouldn't want to see all that iconic stuff, The Whitehouse,
Lincoln Memorial and Capitol Hill and so many others.
Chicago -
Blowing into the windy city is one of Jane's big dreams.
Memphis -
Gracelands, Elvis and all that... and yes, mum I know
he's not dead!!!!
New
Orleans -
Hurricanes allowing we want to see the place and spend
some cash to get that beautiful
city get back
on it's feet!
Amarillo -
can someone show us the way!! (song reference)
Rapid
City -
Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Mountain Memorial
Devil's
Tower -
Doo Doo Doo Dur DURRR! (Close Encounters of the 3rd kind
- for all you non sci-fi people)
Las
Vegas -
Vegas, baby!!! and the surrounding wonders of the Grand
Canyon, Valley of Fire and the Hoover Dam. And
as close to Area 51 as we can get without being arrested
or abducted!!!
Death
Valley -
No stopping!!! We don't want to fry, but it's there and
you just have to do it if it's there!!!
Yosemite -
via the pacific highway to see El Capitan and then into...
San
Francisco -
and a trip over the Golden Gate Bridge and
a bit of sight seeing after we return the
motorhome.
1 or 2 nights in a hotel, then a long flight
home to our newly married life!
Phew!
It's tiring just reading all that....
Ok,
here's how this works....
We've calculated the total cost of everything on the Honeymoon
which includes
things like... motorhome
rental, food, flights, hotel
rooms (for the first and last days in New York/San
Francisco), petrol/gas ....there
are other things, but you get the idea
Once
we added all that up we were able to work out a rough
'cost per mile' (It turns out its just short of £1
per mile). So we've been saving for a few years now,
and each 'wedding gift' we receive will add
to our
own savings...
and help us see more
things
in America.
Simply

This isn't compulsory, simply a suggestion), and click the
button next to it. If you'd like it to go towards something

with the gift.
We've
set this up using the credit card/Paypal system so we can put
the money into our special honeymoon fund
account, and plan our trip in advance. Although if you're coming to the wedding and would rather do it in person, then we're perfectly fine with that too, and we can't wait to see you.
You
might end up paying for part of a helicopter flight over the Grand
Canyon,
or
our
motorhome rental for part of the trip, or maybe a romantic
dinner in New York, or towards our final night in San Francisco
to be in a posh hotel! .... every dollar/pound will help to
make our honeymoon the most
amazing trip of our lives!
When
we recieve any donations/gifts we'll send a thank you email,
so you know it's been received. Some of you we'll be seeing
on our wedding day anyway... and we'll leave this website up
after
the wedding
and we'll
show
you all photos
from
the
wedding and honeymoon
here.

fact, if we take our laptop to The States with us, we might
post some updates on here from various States as we travel
around!!
